Discover The Point (discoverthepoint.com) is a travel and guide site focused on The Point at Cherry Grove Beach, South Carolina. We publish guides, tide information, and travel tips. We are not affiliated with any government, park authority, or commercial beach operator.
What information we collect
We collect minimal information. Here's what we gather and why:
- Email address — if you subscribe to The Tide Report newsletter. We use this only to send the newsletter. We never sell or share your email with third parties.
- Usage data — via Google Analytics 4, which collects anonymized information about how visitors use the site (pages visited, time on site, device type, approximate location). This data is aggregated and not tied to any individual. See Google's privacy policy for details.
- Cookies — Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish returning visitors. No other tracking cookies are used on this site.
Newsletter (The Tide Report)
Our newsletter is managed through Beehiiv. When you subscribe, your email address is stored securely in Beehiiv's platform. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email. We do not share subscriber lists with advertisers or third parties.

Data retention
We do not store personal data on our own servers beyond what is held by the third-party services listed above. If you subscribed to the newsletter and would like your email removed, unsubscribe via the link in any newsletter email or contact us directly and we'll remove it manually.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal data — including the right to access, correct, or delete it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below. We'll respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will delete it.
