The walk to The Point is about a mile each way and there's nothing to buy when you get there. Pack for a half-day. You'll almost always stay longer than you planned.

At The Point you're getting sun from above and reflected off the water on both sides. SPF 50+ is not overkill. We use reef-safe — the inlet is an active ecosystem.
Waves at the tip can catch you off guard. A dry bag keeps your phone, keys, and wallet protected. Also doubles as a seat on the sand.
The walk is all sand but the inlet edge gets rocky. Water shoes let you wade in without hesitation. Chacos and Tevas both work great.
There's nowhere to refill at The Point. A large insulated bottle keeps your water cold for hours. Bring two on summer days.
You will want to sit. Skip the big umbrella — wind at The Point makes them impractical. A packable low-sling chair is worth every ounce.
The sandbar has zero shade. A wide-brim hat is the only real relief from the sun when you're out there for hours.
You need something to carry everything, and a mesh bag lets sand shake out easily. One that stuffs into its own pocket is ideal.
